Dr. Dennis Lam originally hails from Toronto, Canada. His early college education took place in Canada, where he completed a Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science degrees from the University of Toronto and Queeen’s University (Kingston), respectively. He then moved to New York to attend the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. After obtaining his dental diploma in 2001, Dr. Lam completed a residency in general dentistry at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, and followed with specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center. Since entering private practice, Dr. Lam has attained board certification in pediatric dentistry throughout North America. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, as well as a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
Dr. Lam believes that a child’s future oral health is influenced immeasurably by the type of rapport established in the dental office at an early age. For this reason, he supports the concept of a “dental home by age one” endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and also recommends early dental “check-ups” with the pediatric dentist to foster happy and friendly attitudes for children at the dental office.
Although he has resided in New York for the past 10 years, in many ways he is still very much a “Canuck” at heart. Dr. Lam enjoys outdoor activities such as skiing, biking, and hiking, and has continued to play hockey recreationally since arriving in the tri-state area. (Note: He always wears his mouth guard and protective equipment!). Other interests of his include jazz/classical music, traveling, and cooking. Dr. Lam currently lives with his wife in Westchester, NY.
