What is the best time to schedule an appointment?

Since our practice is devoted solely to children (infants to college age) we have through many years of experience determined the best time for scheduled treatment for individual age groups.

The younger child and in particular the child requiring restorative (fillings, etc.) treatment appointments are best scheduled in the morning or the very early afternoon. The early hour scheduling allows the doctor and staff to give your child the undivided attention they deserve without interruption. After school appointments and evening/Saturday hours are usually set aside for the older patient. Younger children are rested and are much more tolerant in the morning.

Am I allowed to stay with my child?

We welcome your presence at all times. Dental visits can be scary for the younger patient and we recognize the comfort you will give in reassuring your child that all is well.

The doctors and staff are highly experienced in helping children overcome their anxiety.  Each child’s personality is different and each child brings with them their own unique experiences and expectations, positive or negative. Do not be surprised if your child exhibits some negative behavior, this is normal and will soon diminish. It may take several visits for them to overcome their apprehension and begin to trust. It is our experience that in time they will overcome this anxiety and will become great dental patients with continued positive reinforcement from you, and routine dental care from us.

What is our appointment policy?

Appointment time is reserved specifically for your child. Each provider (doctor, hygienist) in our practice schedules only one patient at a time. It is greatly appreciated that you arrive for your child’s appointment at the appointed hour so we can devote the necessary time with your child that he/she deserves. We reserve the right to reschedule if a patient arrives late as to not disrupt the remaining day’s schedule.

Our staff makes every attempt to make a courtesy telephone call confirming all dental appointments. Please make sure that all contact telephone numbers are up to date so we may reach you easily.

We pride ourselves in making every attempt to stay on schedule and most of the time we are successful. Please remember that when dealing with young children the unexpected can happen which may result in a disruption in our ability to stay on time. We are sure that you as a parent can and will understand if this happens to you and you are kept waiting a few minutes. Please be assured we are cognizant of our schedules at all times and understand that your time is just as valuable as ours.

What is our cancellation policy?

Our office policy is such that 24 hours notice is required for the cancellation of all appointments. That being said, we recognize that children get sick and last minute emergencies do happen and we do take that in consideration. We ask that you respect the doctor’s and hygienist’s schedules and give as much notice as possible if you must reschedule an appointment.

Dentistry for Children, P.A. does reserve the right to charge for multiple broken appointments and reserves the right to not reschedule when a history of “no show” appointments exists.
